See Y'all Friday and Saturday
DJ Logic is an American turntablist active primarily in jazz and with jam bands. Kibler was born and raised in The Bronx. An early interest in hip hop led to his using the turntables, practicing often.
Eric McFadden is a guitar-playing virtuoso. He has toured the world both as a solo artist, as well as traveling with funk legend George Clinton (Parliament/Funkadelic), and rock legend Eric Burdon (The Animals). McFadden is a member of the new supergroup, TEN (www.TEN-music.com), alongside Thomas Pridgen (Mars Volta) and Norwood Fisher (Fishbone). McFadden is also a member of the all-star band, Stockholm Syndrome, which also includes notable players such as Dave Schools (Widespread Panic), Jerry Joseph (Jack Mormons), Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow) and Danny Louis (Govt Mule).
Eric McFadden has also collaborated on stage and/or in the studio with the regal likes of Bo Diddley, Keb Mo’, Living Colour, Joe Strummer (The Clash), Nels Cline (Wilco), Les Claypool (Primus), The Meters, Pat MacDonald (Timbuk3), Robert Walter, Bernie Worell (Talking Heads), Bonnie Rait, Bill Kreutzman (Grateful Dead), Ron Wood & Chuck Leavel (Rolling Stones), Pink, among others.
(of PRIMUS fame)
Jay Lane is an American drummer from the San Francisco Bay Area. He is currently a member of Primus, as well as Bob Weir's RatDog, Scaring the Children with Weir and Rob Wasserman, and the hip hop/jazz fusion group Alphabet Soup.
Pronounced with a long second “O,” the Los Angeles band Orgone is dedicated to heavy, raw, adrenaline-fueled funk and sweat-dripping soul. With a core rhythm section of close friends and self-taught musicians steeped in local DJ culture, Orgone has spent the last decade expanding their roster and evolving a sound rooted in old school respect but pulsing with the force of the new millennium. Orgone has become a staple on the festival circuit while gaining a reputation among fellow artists as one of the baddest go-to backing bands on the planet. Always evolving musically and cosmically, putting their own gritty takes on cuts by the Meters, Booker T. & the MGs, Grant Green and Funkadelic among others.
Victor Little’s bass contributions include recordings and performances with luminary artists Patti Austin, Billy Preston, Angela Bofill, James Carter, Charlie Musselwhite, Joyce Cooling, and the legendary Booker T. Jones.
DJ MATT HAZE
Matt Haze began his DJ career in the Bronx as a husky 10 year-old, cutting up the dopest Paula Abdul and MC Hammer cassingles at his little sister’s birthday party. In high school, he took a fervent interest in the NYC ska scene. To share his newfound passion for underground music, Haze founded a pirate radio station with two tape decks, a mail-order transmitter kit and a ratty pair of old headphones that doubled as the studio mic. "He pulls the dancefloor’s collective trousers down and spank the sh!t out of it. Don’t be surprised to hear Israeli dancehall, Brazilian funk, Ukrainian hip-hop or German oompahtronics in the mix alongside the latest heavy bass cuts and always a few dusties from the deeeeeep crates!"
"Combining the vibes of funk music with the intensity of hip hop and spoken-word poetry, Syracuse-based group SOPHISTAFUNK specializes in cross-genre music. The three-man band features vocals from Jack Brown, drums by Emanuel Washington, and keyboard, bass, & backup vocals by Adam Gold." - Evan Johnson, The Ithacan
SOPHISTAFUNK met in 2007 and rapidly evolved into a national-touring live act. Known for their HUGE sound (created by only three members), the band has won over crowds with a captivating stage presence and tight musicianship. Rooted by old school funk / hip hop, the trio explores electronic dance grooves while infusing each tune with soul and positively charged lyrics. SOPHISTAFUNK is a multi-genre tour de force, jam packed with vintage tones and live instruments. Catch ONE show, and you will be hooked!
What people are saying:
"Syracuse’s SOPHISTAFUNK, who blended hip-hop, funk and rock flawlessly to create a sound very much their own, moved seamlessly between improvised jams on the keys, soul-filled choruses and blistering rapping... A remarkably proficient band of top notch musicians... a fantastic hip hop jazz band." - TJ Olsen, Beyond Race Magazine (New York City)
"SOPHISTAFUNK has a genre-destroying range of musical ability and mix of socially-conscious lyrics. Much of the trio’s set was spent rifling through thick instrumental funk, fluid vocals, soul crooning, metal, reggae and intricate interplay between Adam Gold’s four-keyboard setup and Emanuel Washington’s drums -- an infectious journey that left the full crowd gasping for air." - Dan Rys, The Daily Free Press (Boston)
